The outhouse is part of Prince Mykola Repnin estate in Yahotyn. Here the prince usually received guests. From today’s name of the outhouse it is clear that the most famous guest here was Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko. He visited this place three times, in 1843, 1845, and 1859.
As you can see in the video, the outhouse is located on the banks of the Supii River, with a very cool river and sunset view. I am sure that for Taras at the age of 29 then, same as now, the sunset was a source of inspiration. Watching the sunset by the river, and how the sun sets behind the horizon, is valuable both in the state of Goa, on the Florida peninsula, and in Yahotyn.
The outhouse in the photo is a restored building. Oleksandr Neporozhniy, the founder of the museum business of the Yahotyn region, was engaged in its restoration. The building was restored and launched in 2003. The table and chair where Kobzar worked have been preserved in the museum. This is incredible, considering the destructive events (revolutions, wars) after Taras’s visit till today.
