Yagotynsky Landscape Park

The city of Yagotyn was founded in 1552. The population of the city is approximately 20 thousand people. The city of Yagotyn is included in the list of historical cities of Ukraine. There are only 8 such cities in the Kyiv region. These are the cities that have fully or partially preserved their historical area together with objects of cultural heritage. One such object is the huge amazing Yagotyn Landscape Park. The park is 130 hectares in size, which is about the size of 180 football fields.

Like most documentary references to Yagotyn and the park, we know the following. When Kyrylo Razumovsky, the last Hetman of the Zaporizhzhya Army, owned the local lands, he built an estate and created a park. This park was designed by landscape architect Peltz. When Kyrylo Razumovsky died, the lands passed to his son Oleksiy Kyrylovych. Oleksiy loved botany, he collected a rare collection of trees
and bushes from Europe, America, and Asia in the park. After 1917, the territories fell into disrepair, and the park developed by itself, without human intervention.

In 2018, the park received its official status, as well as a peninsula called “Round Island”. Virtually, it is a huge forest in the middle of the city on the banks of Supii. It is so big that you can rarely run into other people, but it is safe because it is located in the very heart of the city.
